EVERYTHING IS ROSY MEDLEY meets SAILING HOME BUNDLE
Three Cards - May 27, 2019

As we near the end of May, and as we (in the US) celebrate Memorial Day, I decided that somehow the Sailing Home bundle seemed appropriate for the occasion and the Everything is Rosy Medley had gorgeous Night of Navy with Rose Gold Foil paper that just seemed to go hand-in-hand with the Sailing Home bundle.  As a result, three cards were designed and made.

Card 1 - For this first card, I used Night of Navy card stock cut 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4".  The mat is from the Everything is Rosy Medley (hereinafter referred to as "Medley) papers - the one that looks like blue waters with rose gold foiling.  It is 5-1/4" x 4".  Using the dies from the Smooth Sailing Dies, I cut the rope strip and the compass point from Rose Gold Foil in the Medley.   I cut out two more compass points from Whisper White card stock.

Next, I stamped on Whisper White card stock the sentiment, the compass, and the larger sailboat.  I colored the sailboat with Night of Navy Dark Blends Marker (for the water surrounding the sailboat so it would blend in with the background).  The sails are colored with the Light Balmy Blue Blends Marker, and the mast and boat itself were colored with the Light Crumb Cake Blends Marker.  Die cut the sailboat and sentiment with the dies in the Smooth Sailing kit.  Use the smallest plain circle from the Layering Circles to cut out the compass.

Using the label die in Smooth Sailing, cut another label from Night of Navy card stock.  Cut it in half horizontally and attach the pieces to the top and bottom underside of the Whisper White sentiment label such that a small portion of the Night of Navy outlines the sentiment label.

Assembling was easy:
- Cut a short strip of the Night of Navy/Rose Gold ribbon from the Medley kit, angling both ends. Place vertically under the sentiment.
- Using wet glue, glue the Sentiment Label down over the ribbon piece.
- On the left side of the Sentiment Label, going vertically, glue down the Rope die cut vertically (as shown).
- Carefully glue the 2 Whisper White compass points together, and then top with the 1 Rose Gold Foil compass point, aligning the center hole and the tips.
- Pierce the compass die cut in the middle.  Using a Metallic Brad in rose gold color, assemble the compass point onto the compass.
- Using 2 mini dimensionals on the right side of the compass and wet glue on the left side, place the compass so that it partly overlaps the right side of the Sentiment Label (as shown).
- Using mini dimenstionals, place the Sailboat in a swirl of "water" on the mat paper.
- Glue down the mat to the Night of Navy cardstock.
- INSIDE: Use a Whisper White mat 5-1/4" x 4".
Stamp off 2x and then stamp onto the mat with Night of Navy another Compass - centered on the paper.  If you have leftover designer paper, place a strip at the bottom of the mat.

Card 2 - The starting point for this card was again a Night of Navy card base 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4".  The first layer is Whisper White card stock size 5-1/4" x 4".   The Designer Paper is from the Medley, leftover from the first card and is approximately 2" x 4".

Stamp the Lighthouse from Sailing Home stamp set using Night of Navy ink.  I did this such that the ground part would fall behind the Designer Paper.

Stamp the sea gulls in upper right corner, also using Night of Navy ink.

Using one of the labels with rose gold foiling from the Medley, stamp THANKS from the Sailing Home stamp set, using Night of Navy.

To assemble, glue the Designer Paper to the bottom portion of the Whisper White card stock.  Using Stampin' Dimensionals, position the foiled label/sentiment such that it slightly overlaps the bottom of the lighthouse and the top border of the Designer Paper, and takes up some of the white space.

Next, take two pieces of the Night of Navy/Sahara Sand Baker's Twine and tie a sailor's knot.  Not sure I can explain how to do this.  I basically looked at the Stamp in the Sailing Home stamp set and figured out how to do them.  Then, tape the two ends at top and bottom onto the Back of the Whisper White cardstock.  Use wet glue to place the Whisper White mat, fully assembled, to the Night of Navy Card Stock.   See the YouTube video linked below for what I did on the inside of this card.

Card 3 - The final card used leftover pieces of Designer Paper from the Medley.  The card base is Night of Navy and the bottom mat is Whisper White, in the same dimensions as the first two cards.

The top layer of Designer Paper from the Medley is approximately 3-1/4" high x 3-3/4" wide.  The bottom layer is approximately 1-3/4" high x 3-3/4" wide.  Glue them down to the Whisper White card mat using wet glue (or you can use Snail if you like).

Next, do your stamping:
1)  Stamp the Sentiment "Let HOPE be your ANCHOR through the storms of LIVE" from the Sailing Home stamp set, using Night of Navy Stampin' Pad and Whisper White Card Stock.
2) Stamp the Anchor using Night of Navy ink on Whisper White Card Stock.

Die cut the sentiment using the Label from the Smooth Sailing Dies.  Die cut the Anchor as well from the same die set.  Cut it out again using Night of Navy card stock.  Glue the stamped anchor image onto the Night of Navy anchor die cut to give you a bit thicker anchor.

Next, using the 3rd largest scallop circle from the Layering Circles (see the video), cut out a circle from the Navy/Rose Gold Foil "water" looking paper. NOTE:  This was cut from a square scrap I had left, so use your scraps.

Then, die cut two of the Seaweed shapes from the Smooth Sailing Dies, using the Rose Gold foil paper from the Medley kit.

TO ASSEMBLE:
1)  Cut a 3" strip of Night of Navy/Rose Gold ribbon from the Medley.  Angle the ends.  Place this horizontally under where the Sentiment Label will be placed - top left corner of the card.
2)  Position the 2 Seaweed foiled pieces under the Scalloped Circle such that the bottom of them does Not show out the bottom of the circle and the tops of them are to the bottom right of the sentiment label.  Glue them down with wet glue, but you may wish to leave the tops loose if you like.
3)  Using dimenstionals, please the scalloped circle over the bottom of the 2 Seaweed pieces.
4) Using a piece of the Night of Navy/Sahara Sand twine, approximately 8 - 9 inches long, loop it through the hole in the top of the Anchor.  Tack the anchor down onto the scalloped circle with ONE mini dimensional.  Run the twine at an angle up to the top left of the White card mat and secure to the back of the white mat with tape.
5) Using dimensionals, place the Sentiment Label over the metallic edge ribbon and be sure to position it so that the twine will also stay in place.  See picture and video.
INSIDE:  Stamp the anchor off 2x and the 3rd time stamp in bottom right corner of a Whisper White mat sized 5-1/4" x 4".  On the left margin, glue down a scrap strip of Designer Paper from the Medley (I had a piece that matched the bottom portion of the card front), approximately 1/2" to 5/8" wide and 3-3/4" long.

ENJOY YOUR CARDS!
