FUN FOLD FRIDAY - 9/27/19

DECORATIVE AUTUMN
CORNER FOLD CARD
featuring Come to Gather by Stampin' Up!

My apologies for the lateness of this post.  Life gets in the way sometimes.  On Friday, September 27th, I shared this Decorative Corner Fold card, that I learned how to make by watching a video  by Debbie Henderson from January 29, 2016.
This is my version of that card, using the Come to Gather Suite of products from Stampin' Up!'s 2019 Holiday Catalog.  Here are the cards made:

These cards don't open.  However, they do stand up.  They are basically a cubed rectangle and are actually quite easy to make.  Below are the dimensions for the card base and the mats.  I'll just provide those once.  The decorating part is really up to you, and the "mechanism" is shown in detail in the YouTube video.  Links to supplies will follow that, as well as a link to my YouTube video showing the process of making one of the cards - start to finish.  Enjoy!

DIMENSIONS:

  • Base Cardstock 1 (Pretty Peacock or Merry Merlot in picture) - Cut 5-1/2" x 8-1/2",  SCORE at 2/18", 4-1/4" and 6-3/8" with the long side against the Top of your score board.
  • Base Cardstock 1 (Pretty Peacock or Merry Merlot in picture) - Cut 5-1/2" x 1", Score length-wise at 1/2" (short end against the Top of your score board)
  • First Layer Mats - Cardstock 2 (Early Espresso or Cajun Craze in picture) - 5-1/4" x 1-7/8" (NEED 4 of these)
  • Second Layer Mats - Designer Series Paper (I used various from Come to Gather) - 5" x 1-5/8" (NEED 3 of these)
  • Second Layer Mat 2 - Either Whisper White or Very Vanilla (I used Whisper White) - 5" x 1-5/8" (NEED 1 of these).  NOTE:  You can't see this in the pictures, but it is on the back of the cards and is where the sentiment is stamped and room to write more.
  • 2-1/4" Circle - Base Cardstock 1 color
  • 2" Circle - Base Cardstock 2 color (NOTE: In the 2nd Card, I substituted this for a very large leaf)
  • 1" Circle - Base Cardstock 1 color (NEED 2 of these).  Score these both at 1/2"

It would be easiest to watch the YouTube video linked below to see how to put these together.  Basically, score your Base Cardstock 1 large piece and burnish at all score lines.  Score Base Cardstock 1 small piece and burnish at the score line.  Determine which panel will be in the back to put your Sentiment panel on (I like this to be next to where the seam is).  Lay out your First and Second Layer mat as you want them and glue them down.  Then, take the Base Cardstock 1 piece and using Multipurpose Glue or Tear and Tape Adhesive, glue 1/2 of the thin strip to the Inside of one end of Base Cardstock 1, then match that up with the other end and adhere down as well.  This forms the seam which should be nearly invisible on the outside when done right.

Make your embellishment for the front using the 2-1/4" Circle Punch and the 2" Circle Punch and any other pieces you would like to add.  I used Stamped and Die Cut Leaves from the Gather Together Bundle (stamps and dies), which is an absolutely gorgeous bundle, in my opinion.  I also stamped and die cut some pumpkins on the first card (Peacock and Early Espresso one).  On the second card (Merry Merlot and Cajun Craze), I did not use the 2" Circle punch.  I substituted it with a Large Leaf stamped and die cut from the bundle.

You need the 2 1" circles, both scored in half and burnished, to use as your mechanism on which to place your largest 2-1/4" circle.  Basically, you glue 1/2 of each circle down to the front of the card smack up against the score in the Base Cardstock 1 that is facing front.  Please see video, starting at around the 11:40 minute mark and going to about the 13:15 minute mark, and beyond if you want to see how I assembled all the leaves on the Merry Merlot card, and some tips on adding color to the 3 die cut leaves that don't have a coordinating stamp.

Here is what the cards look like standing up.
