Card Sketch Challenge - 6/29/2020 - Celebrate Sunflowers and Flowers for Every Occasion

Sunflowers, Daisies and Banners, Oh My!

Card Sketch Challenge Accepted - June 29, 2020

As a Stampin' Up! demonstrator in the USA, I am part of a team and my upline occasionally challenges us to make cards using a sketch she provides, or a specific color combination, or something similar.  This month, she challenged us to use a sketch.  So, I had fun with this and brought out the Celebrate Sunflowers bundle, as well as the Flowers for Every Season Designer Series Paper, and the Daisy Lane stamp set and Medium Daisy Punch.  Here is the result:

Celebrate Sunflowers and Daisies Too!
Card Sketch Challenge

This is a standard A2 size card and actually is not a very difficult card to make, but a lot of fun to make.  You can also use scraps of papers to make the banners or flags for the bottom half.  Here's what I did:

  • A2 card base - 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4" turned horizontally - Misty Moonlight Card Stock
  • Flowers for Every Season Designer Series Paper - 2-1/2" H x 5-1/2" W - for top part of card
  • Strips of Bumblebee and Misty Moonlight Cardstock, as well as various paper scraps from the Flowers for Every Season pack that coordinate in varying lengths (but no more than 2-1/2" long), and widths ranging from 1/2" to 1"
  • Bumblebee strip of  1" H x 5-1/2" W
  • Whisper White Scraps to Stamp the Smaller Sunflower (as shown), as well as 3x the Medium Daisy Punch (2 stamped off with Daffodil Delight, 1 left white).
For the Sunflower, I stamped off once with Cinnamon Cider ink pad, then colored with light and dark Mango Melody Stampin' Blends (alcohol markers), as well as Cinnamon Cider and Just Jade Stampin' Blend combo packs. I then die cut the Sunflower with the coordinating dies from the Celebrate Sunflower bundle.

For the Medium Daisy, I stamped off once using Daffodil Delight ink pad for 2 of the daisies and left the 3rd daisy just Whisper White.  Then I punched all 3 out, layered the Whisper White one in the middle between the other two, offsetting the petals, and glued them together.  Last I used a pencil to curl the edges under just a bit.

Assembly goes in this order:
  1. Glue your Designer Series Paper top piece down on your card base.  Note:  You can just use an embossed piece, or stamp your own background instead.  I chose to use the paper with both Daisies and Sunflowers from the Flowers for Every Season 6"x 6" Designer Series Paper.
  2. Lay out  your banners or flags the way you want them and then glue them down right at the bottom edge of the Designer Series Paper piece.  Have them go all the way across your card.
  3. Stamp your Sentiment in Misty Moonlight on the right side of the Bumblebee strip.
  4. Using Foam Adhesive Sheets, I cut a piece 7/8" H x the full length of the Bumblebee Strip or roughly 5-3/8".  Note:  The strips are not this long so I did have to cut an extra little piece for one end.  This is so much easier and sturdier than using Dimensionals!
  5. Glue the Medium Daisy previously assembled onto the Bumblebee strip just to the left of the sentiment.
  6. Using Stampin' Dimensionals, adhere the stamped and colored Sunflower to the far left of the Bumblebee strip, partially covering the Daisy.
  7. Place 3 Misty Moonlight enamel dots from the 2020-2020 In Color Enamel Dots, as shown in the picture.
  8. To finish the inside (not shown), stamp another Sunflower and color it in either the bottom right or bottom left corner of a 5-1/4" W x 4" H Whisper White card stock piece and glue to the inside of the card.
