Card 1 - February 5, 2019
Monochromatic with a Pop of Red
This was the first card we re-created, with a slight change, in my YouTube live stream this evening, 2/5/2019. Although there are no butterflies showing here, the black gingham is one of the reverse sides of the Botanical Butterflies Designer Series Paper. The red flourishes are from the Beauty Abounds matching dies and the "thanks" is from the Beauty Abounds stamp set. The latter two are found in the Stampin' Up! INSTRUCTIONS:
Here are the instructions for making this card, as well as links to the products used.
Prepare your card stock.
1) Basic Black - cut 8-1/2 x 11" in half to make an 8-1/2 x 5-1/2" piece.
2) Score this at 4-1/4" and fold in half. This is your card base.
3) Whisper White - cut 3 pieces in these sizes:
- 5-1/2 x 3" (for the front)
- 3" x 3/4 to 1" (for the stamping on the front)
- 5-1/4" x 4" (for the inside mat)
4) Botanical Butterfly DSP - your choice design, but in black and white - cut 2 pieces:
- 5-1/2" x 2" - for the front layer
- 4" x 1/2" to 3/4" - strip for the inside mat

3) Whisper White - cut 3 pieces in these sizes:
- 5-1/2 x 3" (for the front)
- 3" x 3/4 to 1" (for the stamping on the front)
- 5-1/4" x 4" (for the inside mat)
4) Botanical Butterfly DSP - your choice design, but in black and white - cut 2 pieces:
- 5-1/2" x 2" - for the front layer
- 4" x 1/2" to 3/4" - strip for the inside mat
Stamp your sentiment on the Whisper White strip and flag the ends using the Triple Banner Punch.
Die cut the 2 Flourishes out of the coordinating dies (Butterfly Beauty Thinlits) out of the Real Red card stock. I used a scrap that I had rather than cutting into a new piece of card stock.
Put the Real Red Cotton Ribbon around the Botanical Butterfly larger piece, to go on the front. Adhere with Mini Glue Dots on either side of the back, and at least one or two spots on the front.
Using liquid glue, assemble the front layers as shown in the picture - White, then Botanical Butterfly with the ribbon on it, then adhere the assembled piece onto the Basic Black card stock.
Using dimensionals, adhere the stamped, Whisper White, flag piece in the center over the Real Red ribbon.
Carefully apply some liquid glue to your Real Red flourishes so that they will lay in opposite directions. Use very tiny dots of glue to apply. Position them where the Botanical Butterflies paper meets the Whisper White paper both above and below the centered greeting, as shown in the picture.
Apply 3 Red Basic Jewels to the stamped, flag piece. Apply 4 additional Red Basic Jewels in each corner on the Whisper White Cardstock.
Glue the strip of Botanical Butterfly to the left side of the Whisper White mat for the inside of the card. Glue the Whisper White mat onto the Basic Black card base inside.
