FUN FOLD FRIDAYS - August 9, 2019
featuring Come Sail Away

This week is my first week sharing a new series I'm calling Fun Fold Fridays.  Today, I have an easy mini-album of sorts within a standard A2 size card.  Fun and easy to make.  I explain how in my YouTube video, but I'll list the instructions below as well.

Here are pictures of the cards closed and open.

How to make these simple, but fun cards:

1) Cut a normal A2 size card (5-1/2" x 8", scored at 4-1/4")

2) Cut a piece of 8-1/2" x 11" card stock in half , so you end up with a piece 4-1/4" x 11", then cut off 1/2" on the 4-1/4" side.  You'll then have a piece of card stock 4-1/4" x 10-1/2".  Score this at 3-1/2" and 7", fold and burnish.

3) For the Night of Navy and Balmy Blue card:
  • Using the Stitched Rectangle Dies, cut out a Balmy Blue rectangle that will fit under a 3" x 4" Memories and More card with approximately 1/4" all around it.  Then, using Versamark Ink Pad and the netting stamp from the Sea of Textures stamp set, stamp all around the Balmy Blue stitched rectangle.  Glue the Stitched Rectangle onto the front of the Night of Navy A2 card front, centered as best you can.
  • Next, layer 2 pieces from the Memories and More Cards pack (I used a 3" x 4" card with a coordinating laser-cut card "frame" from the pack).   Glue those together and then put them up on dimensionals on top of the Balmy Blue piece.  Tuck the two sea weed stickers from the Memories and More sticker sheets under the top right and bottom left corner.  Last, apply two trinkets to the other two corners with Mini Glue Dots.  I put some of the Night of Navy/Sahara Sand twine through the Anchor Trinket before gluing that one down.
  • Inside, cut a piece of the Designer Series Paper to be approximately 3-1/2" x 4-1/4" and place on the inside cover of the card.  Put a piece of Whisper White card stock about 1/4" smaller all around on top (glue down).
  • On the back inside, glue down the 4-1/2" x 10-1/2" piece, such that the scores will open out to the right side of the card.  Then choose 5 more Memories and More cards and adhere them to the Balmy Blue fold out piece (see YouTube video if unclear).
  • Embellish all pieces with one or more stickers from the Memories and More Card Pack sticker sheets.
4) For the Whisper White and Soft Suede card:
  • Use Whisper White Thick for your A2 card base (See Step 1).
  • Use Soft Suede for your 4-1/4" x 10-1/2" fold out piece (See Step 2).
  • Cut a piece of Sailing Home Designer Series Paper to be 4-1/8" x 5-3/8", and adhere it to the Whisper White card front.
  • Cut a piece of Soft Suede card stock 4-1/2" High x 3-3/4" Wide.   Run it through the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder with the planks running vertically.
  • Die cut the knot and long, thin rope piece using the Sailing Home dies and Gold Foil sheet.  Die cut the label in the Sailing Home dies with a scrap of Whisper White card stock.
  • Stamp using Night of Navy Classic Stampin' Pad, "Here's to You" sentiment from the Seaside Notions Stamp Set onto the die cut label.
  • Glue down the gold foil rope strip onto the embossed Soft Suede piece so that the white label will center over top it.  You will need to snip a little bit off the edges of the gold rope strip.
  • Next, wrap the Night of Navy/Sahara Sand twine 3 times vertically around the Soft Suede piece (see picture).  Adhere to the back of the Soft Suede piece using Mini Glue Dots.
  • Place the white label over the gold rope strip and the intersecting area of the 3 twine wraps, using Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Position the gold foil die cut knot at the top of the white label.
  • Inside:  Follow the same directions as the Night of Navy card, except the inside cover is a piece of Soft Suede with a Memories and More Card on it, rather than DSP with Whisper White.
Enjoy your cards!
