BONANZA BUDDIES BIRTHDAY CARD -

Fun Fold - From YouTube Live on 1-14-2020

Hi everyone!  I know it has been awhile since I posted on my blog.  I'll be trying to improve on that for 2020.  Tuesday evening, January 14th, 2020, after sharing a little bit of a Stampin' Up! haul, I made two Birthday Cards during my weekly YouTube Live.

The first featured the Bonanza Buddies Stamp Set, Dies, and Designer Series Paper, and is pictured directly below.  The second, which featured the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper, will be in the next blog post after this.  The ideas for both cards came from swaps received from my peers on my upline's team.

This card is a bit deceptive.  It looks just like a regular A2 sized card (5-1/2" tall by 4-1/4" wide).  Well, it sort of is, BUT, it doesn't Open like an A2 card normally does.  Flip that Happy Birthday flap back and the thin part of the card with the Designer Series Paper on it flips open to reveal the inside.  You'll have to watch my YouTube live to see how this works!  It is linked here:

Here are the various dimensions, followed by the supply links for all supplies used:

  • Card Base - Bermuda Bay - 5-1/2" H x 4-1/4" W (single piece only - doesn't open)
  • Mat #1 on top Bermuda Bay - 5-1/2" H x 4" W
  • Card Base on top Mat #1 - Whisper White - 11" H x 3-1/2" W, scored at 5-1/2", folded and burnished.  Stamp a sentiment inside using Bermuda Bay ink.  This card has the "Let's Celebrate You" from the Bonanza Buddies stamp set.
  • Mat #2 on top Whisper White base - 5-1/2" H x 3-1/2" W
  • Layering Ovals in Bermuda Bay and Whisper White, with the Whisper White run through the Subtle Embossing Folder
  • Die Cut from Scraps - 3 Balloons in Bermuda Bay, Grapefruit Grove, and the DSP (same pattern as Mat #1); Toucan Bird from DSP; Pennant Banner from Bermuda Bay.
  • Assemble everything to this point.
  • Glue down the Pennant Banner at top of 3-1/2" W DSP.  You will have to snip about 1/8" off one end after adhering.
  • Next, glue the Layering Ovals together and glue on top 3-1/2" W DSP piece.  Assemble balloons using glue dots to hold Linen Thread in place, which needs to be long enough to go to bottom of the Layering Ovals.  Assemble your balloons using glue dots and Multi-Purpose Glue, and a Stampin' Dimensional for the bottom balloon.  Gather the Linen Thread balloon strings and adhere to the Layering Ovals at the bottom of the ovals with Mini Glue Dot(s).
  • With Scrap of Whisper White approximately 1-1/16" Wide and about 4-3/4" long (1-1/2" folds to the back), stamp the sentiment in Bermuda Bay. This card uses the Happy Birthday from the Bonanza Buddies stamp set.
  • Punch the Whisper White sentiment strip on Right End.
  • Use Daffodil Delight card stock approximately 1-1/4 to 1-1/2" Wide and approximately 5-1/4" long (1-1/2" folds to the back), punch with Triple Banner Punch on right end.
  • Glue the Whisper White sentiment strip and Daffodil Delight card stock together, then place on card front and fold over about 1-1/2" to back of Bermuda Bay base mat and glue down on back.
  • Adhere the Toucan Bird to the right side of the sentiment strip, such that it almost looks like his beak is holding the balloon strings.
  • Adhere the sweet little mini pompoms (one each in Bermuda Bay, Grapefruit Grove, and White).  NOTE:  I tried using the Mini Glue Dots, but found that a little dot of wet glue worked better - just hold each one down in place for a minute until the glue really grabs these cute pompoms.
Your Birthday Card is Finished!  Really Cool, huh?  Now, I'm more of a visual learner, or a combination learner, so if you are like me, you'll probably understand all this better by watching the replay of the live stream over on YouTube.
