PEACEFUL POPPIES Birthday Card

from YouTube Live Stream January 14, 2020

This is the second card made during my live stream on Tuesday evening, January 14th.  We changed directions a bit from Playful to Peaceful.  This card was CASE'd from Beverly M., a fellow demonstrator, from whom I received a swap card.  I did change a few things, which I'll note as we go along.  Here is a picture of the card (the sample, and the one made Live):

This IS a standard A2 card, but opens vertically, rather than like a book horizontally.  That is one difference to the CASE'd card.  Other differences include:
  • The use of a Pool Party mat on top the card base, run through the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.
  • The use of the Layered with Kindness stamp set from the 2020 Mini Catalog for the Happy Birthday sentiment, stamped in Poppy Parade, and punched out with the coordinating Label Me Lovely Punch.
  • Different pieces of the Designer Series Paper, and a different piece from the Peaceful Poppies Elements.
One reason I added the Pool Party embossed mat on top was that I don't care for wrapping ribbon around the actual card base, such that it shows on the inside of the card.  Lot's of people do that, but I rarely do.  So, this allowed me to cut the ribbon off and glue it to the back of the embossed mat prior to gluing the mat down.  Also, since I made the card vertical and the ribbon goes vertically, I couldn't really wrap the ribbon around the card base if I wanted to (well, at least not leaving it in the vertical direction).

Otherwise, the style is the same.  Oh wait, I also stamped a Poppy on the inside of the card and colored it with blends.  That was kind of a last-minute decision during the live stream, but I love how it looks!
