FUN FOLD FRIDAY - TUNNEL CARD

featuring Rustic Retreat and Nature's Beauty Stamp Sets by Stampin' Up!, 9/6/19

On my Fun Fold Friday series on YouTube, I featured a Tunnel Card on September 6th.  This was not my original idea as far as card design, however, using these stamp sets and papers, etc. to make the card was my idea.

Here are some pictures of the card shown on YouTube.  Dimensions and links to the YouTube video and supplies used will follow below the pictures.

Dimensions:
  • 1 piece 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" Whisper White Thick Cardstock
  • 2 pieces 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" Soft Suede Cardstock*
    • *NOTE:  You would only need 1 piece of Soft Suede IF you don't use Stampin' Blends or other alcohol markers to color the images on the inside piece of Whisper White.  I did and it bled through for me, so I had to cover the front and back with the 2nd piece of Soft Suede.  Lesson Learned.
  • 1 piece 6"x6" Neutrals Designer Series Paper in Soft Suede Gingham pattern, cut into 3 pieces:
    • 2-1/2" W x 5-3/8" H (1 piece) - for front
    • 1-3/4" W x 5-1/4" H (2 pieces) - for inside, both sides
  • 1 scrap of Whisper White cardstock to die cut a scalloped oval for front image.
Directions:
  • Take one piece of Soft Suede Cardstock and find the center on the 8-1/2" side.  Using the largest scalloped oval from the Layering Ovals Dies set, die cut the oval out of the center of the cardstock.  This provides your "window" on the inside.  Save the cut out piece to use on the front of the card.
  • Once the oval is die cut, score this same piece of cardstock at 2-1/8", 4-1/4", and 6-3/8".  Fold and burnish such that the center (4-1/4" score) folds out and the other two scores fold back towards the card base.
  • Lay the Soft Suede Cardstock piece with cut out oval over the Thick Whisper White piece.  Using a pencil, mark the center top, center bottom and center left and right.  This will allow you to know where to stamp the images on the Whisper White piece to show through this "window".
  • Select the cabin and sign images from the Rustic Retreat Stamp Set and stamp the cabin with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, and the Sign with Soft Suede Ink.  Color the cabin using blends (but see *Note above - Colored Pencils or Stampin' Write dye-based makers may be a better choice).
  • Stamp the deer from the Nature's Beauty Stamp Set onto Whisper White scrap paper, using Soft Suede ink pad.  Fussy cut the deer out.
  • Stamp the buck from the Rustic Retreat stamp set onto the Whisper White Scalloped Oval piece (or stamp the buck first and then die cut the Scalloped Oval - 2nd largest oval).  Color the buck with Stampin' Blends.   Adhere the colored buck piece to the larger Soft Suede oval saved from the inside window cut out.  Set aside.
  • Stamp the pine boughs from the Nature's Beauty Set on the top inner pieces of the Soft Suede (the parts that contain the scalloped oval cut out).  See picture.
  • Adhere the two flap parts of the scored Soft Suede piece to the inside of the Thick Whisper White piece, such that the side edges line up and the cabin and sign show through the scalloped window.  I use liquid glue to do this.
  • Adhere the fussy cut deer to the left edge of the scalloped oval, so that it doesn't cover the cabin or sign, but lines up well with both.
  • Glue down the 2 inside pieces of Soft Suede Gingham paper to the left and right panels.
  • Now, if you used alcohol makers, you need the second piece of Soft Suede to glue over the top of the Thick Whisper White on the outside, like I did.  That is the next step.
  • Then, adhere the larger Soft Suede Gingham paper to the left side of the card front.
  • Stamp some more pine boughs from the Nature's Beauty Stamp Set on the right side of the card front that just has Soft Suede cardstock showing.
  • Cut a piece of the Burlap Ribbon and place it horizontally under the bottom third of the scalloped ovals.
  • Using Stampin' Dimensionals, place the Soft Suede scalloped oval with Whisper White colored image of buck on it, over the burlap ribbon.
Your card is now complete.
